It is always an adventure picking out Halloween costumes with my children.
Josh wants anything with a big sword or axe.
He brought me several costumes to see if I would okay them. Crazed surgeon with a severed head? Nope. Swamp monster costume at $49.99? Nope.
Finally after bringing me 5 or 6 that I had to turn down he was exasperated and brought me a plain, simple pirate costume. I told him that was fine...but he was a pirate last year...was he sure he wanted to go that route again?
At this point my beloved pulled from behind his back a makeup kit with white pancake makeup and black eyeliner and said, "But how about a ZOMBIE PIRATE?"
So...he's going to be a zombie pirate for Halloween.

Gerrick is going to be a skeleton pirate too!!! It was a perfect compromise I thought, because he can be a regular pirate at his preschool party and the church trunk-or-treat (so as not to scare half to death the "normal" little kids), and then be the skeleton pirate when we go out on Halloween. He already had a pirate costume in his dress-up box, and we just bought him a $7.99 skeleton mask at Big Lots. :)
